Lung Cancer Therapy in Newport Beach

Advanced Treatment to Improve Your Quality of Life

Pulmonologists play a key role in diagnosing and treating patients with cancer whether that be lung cancer, cancers that have spread to the lungs, or cancers that exacerbate lung disease such as pneumonia. If you have already been diagnosed with cancer or received a diagnosis of lung cancer after a biopsy performed by Dr. Rutland, he will work side by side with your oncologist to manage lung-related diseases secondary to cancer treatment and provide lung cancer therapy in Newport Beach

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

During your first appointment, we will perform a full pulmonary workup – spirometry, lung ultrasound, EKG, pulse oximetry, and a full patient intake to learn about your medical history, activity, and your goals. Depending on your symptoms, a walk test and echo may also be used. Oftentimes, labs will be drawn, and, in some cases, a bronchoscopy, biopsy, chest x-ray, and/or CT scan will be needed to garner further information. Generally, if you have been working with oncology or other physicians, we will also request any labs and imaging you have already had.

Continuation of Care

Continuation of care is patient-specific. After your initial appointment and a care plan has been implemented, we will continue to monitor you based on your symptoms and severity. Patients are typically followed through treatment and after as flare-ups can be common.
