What to Expect at Your First Appointment
During your first appointment, we will perform a full pulmonary workup – spirometry, lung ultrasound, EKG, pulse oximetry, and a full patient intake to learn about history, activity, and your goals. Depending on your symptoms, a walk test and echo may also be used. Oftentimes, labs will be drawn, and, in some cases, a bronchoscopy, biopsy, chest x-ray, and/or CT Scan will be needed to garner further information.
Continuation of Care
An important part of IPF is to first rule out other lung conditions. Once an IPF diagnosis has been determined, Dr. Rutland works to slow bad cellular communication. Continuation of care is life-long and based on the severity of your condition.
